OUR FINANCIAL GUIDELINES

BOARD OF ELDERS

Chesterfield Community Church of God

  1. We will live within our means. We refuse to overextend and overspend ourselves and then ask God's people to bail us out. We believe that God will give us the necessary financial resources to do what we are being called to do.

  1. Our intention is to use every resource given to the church to fulfill the church’s mission. We carefully monitor and receipt all donations of record. Annual reports will be sent to all persons who contribute on record so that they can be certain that our records are accurate.

  1. The giving records of members of our congregation will be held in strictest confidence.

  1. We believe in full disclosure at all times. Our financial reports are available to any member upon request.

  1. We are committed to paying our bills in a timely manner. We refuse to subsidize our ministry on the backs of others.

  1. Our church mailing list is for our purpose only. We will never sell or rent our mailing list.

  1. We will communicate our financial needs to our congregation as clearly and as truthfully as possible. We will not inflate or overstate our situation nor create a crisis to boost income.

OUR GIVING CONVICTIONS

BOARD OF ELDERS

Chesterfield Community Church of God

  1. Giving is a joyous opportunity to join God in the work that God is doing. Our first goal for our giving as a congregation is not to raise budgets, but to be a church of cheerful, joyous, generous givers.

  1. Our very lives belong to God, and therefore, all of our finances and possessions are God’s as well.

  1. We believe that the practice of tithing is a biblical guideline for our giving (see Malachi 3:8-10). The principle of tithing calls for God’s people to give 10 percent or more of our income for the work of God’s Kingdom as a commitment and reminder that all is God’s.

  1. While we believe that tithing is for every Christian, we are also aware that for some Christians, for a variety of reasons, the giving of a full 10 percent is impossible at the present time. We encourage everyone, therefore, to begin with percentage giving — identifying a percentage that they can give and doing so consistently — and to make full tithing an eventual goal.

  1. We believe that as individuals give, so must a congregation. Therefore, we will seek to wisely invest in ministries outside of ourselves, with the primary focus on our local community (our Jerusalem) and as possible to reach out into Judea, Samaria and the outer reaches of God's kingdom.

  1. We carefully form and follow a budget each year. Our budget is a “ministry plan” that helps us to set priorities for our spending. Our budget and spending records are always available upon request.

  1. We carefully monitor and receipt all donations. The giving records of members of our congregation will be held in strict confidence.
